Pigmentary Disorders

Pigmentary disorders are conditions where the skin develops uneven color due to changes in melanin, the pigment responsible for skin color. These include hyperpigmentation (dark spots or patches), caused by increased melanin, often from sun exposure or inflammation, and hypopigmentation (light patches), resulting from reduced melanin, seen in conditions like vitiligo. These disorders can be temporary or persistent and may be affected by genetics, environmental factors, or skin inflammation. Proper diagnosis and treatment aim to even out skin tone, often involving topical therapies, sun protection, or other medical interventions.
