Pigment

Pigment is a substance that gives materials like paint, fabric, or skin their color. It consists of molecules that absorb certain wavelengths of light and reflect others, which is what we see as color. Pigments are used in art, cosmetics, and manufacturing to produce consistent, vibrant hues. They can be natural, like mineral and plant-based pigments, or synthetic, created through chemical processes. Essentially, pigments are the coloring agents responsible for the diverse palette of colors seen in everyday objects and materials.
