Piedmont-Sardinia
Piedmont-Sardinia was a historic kingdom in northern Italy, uniting the regions of Piedmont and the Kingdom of Sardinia (including Sardinia, Corsica, and parts of northern Italy). Established in 1720, it became a leading force in the Italian unification movement during the 19th century. Under the rule of the House of Savoy, Piedmont-Sardinia modernized its government and military, ultimately playing a key role in unifying various Italian states into a single nation-state in 1861. Its capital was Turin, and it served as the foundation for the modern Italian Republic.
