Pictish kings
Pictish kings ruled the Picts, a group of early medieval tribes in what is now Scotland, from around the 3rd to 9th centuries. They held political and religious authority, often represented through symbols like stone carvings. These monarchs united the tribes, maintained defenses, and oversaw cultural practices. Despite limited written records, archaeological findings suggest they played a central role in shaping Pictish society and identity before their eventual integration into the Gaelic kingdom of Alba. Their legacy includes distinctive art and inscriptions that provide insights into their history and beliefs.
