Pickering emulsion
A Pickering emulsion is a type of mixture where tiny particles, such as solid beads or powders, stabilize two immiscible liquids like oil and water, preventing them from separating. Unlike traditional emulsions stabilized by liquid surfactants (like soap), Pickering emulsions rely on these solid particles forming a barrier at the interface between the two liquids. This barrier reduces the energy needed for the liquids to stay mixed, resulting in a stable blend. Such emulsions are used in cosmetics, food products, and pharmaceuticals, offering environmentally friendly alternatives due to their reduced reliance on chemical surfactants.
