Phra Prang

A Phra Prang is a distinctive, tall, tower-like structure found in Thai temples, especially at the ancient Hindu and Buddhist sites. It resembles a Khmer-style temple spire and is often elaborately decorated with carvings and sculptures. The Prang serves as the central shrine or sanctuary, symbolizing Mount Meru, the cosmic mountain in Hindu and Buddhist cosmology. Its design reflects spiritual significance, representing the connection between the earthly and divine realms. Prangs are iconic in Thailand’s architectural heritage, embodying religious symbolism and artistic craftsmanship.
