Phnong people

The Phnong, also known as the Mnong or Monong, are an indigenous ethnic group primarily residing in southeastern Cambodia and southern Vietnam. They are part of the Austronesian-speaking peoples and have a rich cultural heritage rooted in agriculture, particularly rice farming and forest gathering. Traditionally, the Phnong maintain animist beliefs, worshiping nature spirits, although some have adopted Buddhism or Christianity. They have distinct languages and customs, with social organization centered around clans and kinship ties.
