Phlebotomy Techniques

Phlebotomy techniques involve drawing blood safely and efficiently from a vein, usually from the arm. The process includes selecting a suitable vein, cleaning the area with an antiseptic, and applying a tourniquet to make the vein easier to see and feel. A sterile needle attached to a collection tube is then inserted into the vein to extract blood. Afterward, pressure is applied to stop bleeding, and the needle is removed carefully. Proper technique ensures patient comfort and accurate results while minimizing risks like infection or bruising.
