Phlebitis

Phlebitis is the inflammation of a vein, usually in the legs, caused by irritation, injury, or a blood clot. It often presents as redness, swelling, pain, and a warm feeling along the affected vein. While it can be uncomfortable, most cases are mild and resolve with rest, elevation, and sometimes medications like blood thinners or anti-inflammatory drugs. However, if a blood clot forms, it can be more serious, potentially leading to complications like deep vein thrombosis (DVT) or pulmonary embolism. Prompt medical attention ensures proper diagnosis and treatment to prevent complications.
