Philip II of Macedon was a powerful king (r. 359–336 BC) who transformed Macedonia into a strong, organized military state. He reformed his army, introducing innovative tactics and disciplined troops, which allowed him to conquer neighboring regions. Philip united much of Greece under his control, paving the way for his son Alexander the Great's future expansions. Known for his strategic thinking and diplomatic skill, Philip also strengthened Macedonia's political and economic stability. His leadership laid the groundwork for Greece’s brief period of unity and the subsequent expansion of Greek culture and influence across the known world.
