Philistine

The Philistines were an ancient people who existed around the 12th century BCE, primarily located along the southern coast of modern-day Israel and Gaza. They are known from biblical texts as one of the neighboring groups of the Israelites, often depicted as rivals or enemies. Archaeologically, they were part of the Sea Peoples and are recognized for their distinctive culture, including unique pottery and technology. Historically, they played a significant role in the ancient Near East, contributing to regional trade and cultural exchanges before eventually declining around the 7th or 6th centuries BCE.
