Phase I and Phase II
Phase I and Phase II are stages of drug development testing. In Phase I, a small group of healthy volunteers or patients tests the drug primarily for safety, dosage, and side effects. The goal is to understand how the drug behaves in the body. In Phase II, a larger group of patients with the condition the drug aims to treat is studied. Researchers assess the drug’s effectiveness and continue to monitor safety. These phases help ensure the drug is safe and effective before it proceeds to larger, more definitive trials.
