Phase diversity

Phase diversity is an imaging technique used to improve the clarity of pictures taken through optical systems, like telescopes or microscopes. It works by capturing multiple images of the same scene, each with different known distortions or focus settings. Using these images, algorithms analyze the differences to identify and correct distortions caused by factors like atmospheric turbulence or optical imperfections. The result is a sharper, more accurate image. Essentially, phase diversity helps us see more clearly by intelligently comparing varied shots to understand and fix the hidden imperfections affecting image quality.
