Phalanstère

A Phalanstère is a concept of a communal living arrangement proposed by the French philosopher Charles Fourier in the early 19th century. It refers to a self-sustaining community where individuals live and work together harmoniously, sharing resources and responsibilities. Fourier envisioned these communities as ideal societies that promote cooperation, creativity, and social equality, contrasting sharply with the competitive nature of capitalist systems. Each phalanstère would consist of diverse individuals, engaging in various productive activities while enjoying leisure and cultural pursuits, all aimed at fulfilling both personal and collective happiness.
