PFT interpretation
PFT, or pulmonary function testing, measures how well your lungs breathe and move air. It includes tests like spirometry, which checks how much air you can exhale and how quickly, and lung volume tests, which see how much air your lungs can hold. These results help doctors find out if you have lung conditions like asthma, COPD, or restrictive lung disease. Interpretation involves comparing your results to normal values based on age, sex, and size. Abnormal results can indicate airflow obstruction or restricted lung expansion, guiding diagnosis and treatment decisions.
