Peterburg Soviet

The Petersburg Soviet was a workers' council formed in 1905 in Saint Petersburg, Russia, during the revolution against Tsarist rule. It was a democratic assembly where workers and soldiers organized collectively to demand better conditions, political reform, and greater participation in governance. Unlike traditional government bodies, soviets operated as grassroots, revolutionary councils that represented the working class's interests. The Petersburg Soviet played a crucial role in coordinating strikes and protests, serving as a precursor to the Bolshevik-led government that arose after the 1917 Revolution. It embodied the broader movement towards worker-led self-management and revolutionary change in Russia.
