Personal Representative
A personal representative is a person appointed to manage and settle someone's estate after they pass away. This individual handles tasks like gathering the deceased’s assets, paying debts and taxes, and distributing remaining property according to the will or law. They may be named in the deceased’s will (executor) or appointed by a court if no will exists (administrator). Their role is to ensure the estate is settled properly, efficiently, and in accordance with legal requirements, acting as a trustworthy fiduciary throughout the probate process.
