Persistence of Vision

Persistence of vision is the phenomenon where your brain retains an image for a fraction of a second after the actual image has disappeared from your eyes. This effect allows us to perceive continuous motion when a series of still images are shown rapidly, such as in movies or animations. Essentially, the eye and brain work together to blend individual images into a smooth, seamless experience, because the visual information from each image remains briefly in our memory, creating the illusion of movement.
