Persia (historical region)

Persia, historically a region in Southwest Asia, corresponds largely to modern Iran. It has a rich cultural history dating back thousands of years, known for influential empires such as the Achaemenids, Safavids, and Qajars. Persia was a center of art, science, and architecture, shaping regional and global history. The name "Persia" originates from ancient Greece, but locally, the area is called Iran.
