Persia (historical region)

Persia, historically a region in Southwest Asia, corresponds largely to modern Iran. It has a rich cultural history dating back thousands of years, known for influential empires such as the Achaemenids, Safavids, and Qajars. Persia was a center of art, science, and architecture, shaping regional and global history. The name "Persia" originates from ancient Greece, but locally, the area is called Iran. Today, Iran remains the cultural and political successor to Persia, with Persian language and traditions playing a key role in its national identity.
