Permian

The Permian is a geologic period that occurred approximately 299 to 252 million years ago. It is part of the Paleozoic Era and is known for significant Earth changes, including the formation of vast inland seas and diverse life, such as early reptiles and many marine species. The period ended with a major extinction event that wiped out a large percentage of Earth's species. Today, the name "Permian" is also associated with significant natural resources, particularly the Permian Basin in North America, which is a major source of oil and natural gas.
