PERM Process
The PERM process is a way for employers to help foreign workers get a green card to live and work permanently in the U.S.. It involves the employer proving there are no qualified U.S. workers available for the position and that hiring the foreign worker won’t negatively affect wages and working conditions. The employer must go through a detailed recruitment process, then file a labor certification application with the Department of Labor. Once approved, the worker can proceed to apply for a green card. This process ensures employment-based immigration is fair and considers the U.S. labor market.
