Peripheral insertion central catheter (PICC)

A Peripheral Insertion Central Catheter (PICC) is a long, thin tube inserted into a vein in your arm and threaded to a large vein near your heart. It allows healthcare providers to deliver medications, fluids, or nutrition directly into your bloodstream over an extended period. PICCs are often used for treatments that require repeated or long-term access, reducing the need for multiple needle sticks. The insertion is performed under sterile conditions, and the catheter is secured in place, with a small portion remaining outside the skin for access.
