Periodic Classification of Elements
The periodic classification of elements is a systematic way of organizing all known chemical elements based on their properties and atomic structure. The elements are arranged in a table called the periodic table, where elements with similar characteristics are grouped into vertical columns called groups or families. Rows, called periods, show increasing atomic number, which is the number of protons in an atom’s nucleus. This arrangement helps scientists understand patterns and relationships among elements, predict properties of new elements, and organize chemistry in a logical, accessible way.
