Performance-enhancing drugs (PEDs)
Performance-enhancing drugs (PEDs) are substances used by athletes to improve their physical abilities, such as strength, endurance, or speed. They include steroids, hormones, and other chemicals that can promote muscle growth, speed up recovery, or increase alertness. While some PEDs can enhance performance temporarily, they often carry significant health risks and are considered unfair because they give users an advantage over competitors. Many sports organizations prohibit their use and conduct drug tests to ensure fair play and athlete safety.
