Perceptual Realism

Perceptual realism is the philosophical idea that our perceptions of the world, such as sight and sound, accurately reflect an external reality independent of our minds. It suggests that when we see a tree or hear a thunderstorm, these perceptions are reliable representations of actual objects and events outside of us. In essence, perceptual realism holds that our senses generally provide us with truthful information about the world, allowing us to perceive it as it truly is.
