Peramivir
Peramivir is an antiviral medication used to treat influenza (flu) infections. It works by blocking an enzyme called neuraminidase, which flu viruses need to spread within the body. By inhibiting this enzyme, peramivir helps reduce the severity and duration of the flu symptoms. It is typically given as a single intravenous (IV) infusion, often in a hospital or clinical setting. Peramivir is mainly used for patients who are at risk of complications or cannot take oral medications. It is most effective when administered shortly after symptoms appear.
