Pequot War
The Pequot War (1636-1638) was a conflict between the Pequot tribe and English colonists in New England. Tensions grew over land and trade, leading to violence. In 1637, a pivotal event called the Mystic Massacre saw colonists and their Native allies attack and destroy a Pequot fort, killing many Pequot people. The war resulted in the near destruction of the Pequot tribe, with survivors either fleeing, assimilating, or being enslaved. It marked a harsh period of Native-European conflict and set a pattern for future colonization and Native displacement in North America.
