Peptide Bond
A peptide bond is a special connection that links amino acids together in proteins. Think of amino acids as building blocks; when they join, a peptide bond forms between the carboxyl group of one amino acid and the amino group of the next. This bond is a strong, stable link that creates a chain, which folds into the complex structures of proteins essential for life. Peptide bonds are formed through a chemical reaction called dehydration synthesis, where a water molecule is removed. This process repeats, building long chains that make up the proteins in our bodies.
