Peptic strictures
Peptic strictures are narrow, scarred areas that develop in the esophagus or stomach lining due to long-term inflammation from acid reflux or ulcers. This narrowing can cause difficulty swallowing, discomfort, and sometimes food getting stuck. The inflammation causes the tissue to heal with scar tissue, which constricts the passage. Treatment options include medications to reduce acid, endoscopic procedures to widen the narrowed area, or surgery if necessary. The goal is to relieve symptoms and prevent further damage caused by acid exposure.
