People's Revolutionary Army (ERP)

The People's Revolutionary Army (ERP) was a Marxist-Leninist guerrilla organization in Peru active from the 1980s to the early 2000s. It aimed to overthrow the Peruvian government and establish a socialist state through violent insurgency. Comprising primarily rural villagers and militants, ERP engaged in guerrilla warfare, kidnappings, and attacks against military and civilian targets. It was part of a broader pattern of revolutionary movements in Latin America during that period. The group diminished in influence after government crackdowns and internal conflicts, eventually disbanding as the political landscape in Peru changed.
