People's Party (US)

The People's Party, also known as the Populist Party, was a political movement in the United States active primarily in the late 19th century, around 1892. It aimed to represent the interests of farmers, laborers, and working-class Americans, advocating for issues like government control of railroads and banks, coinage of silver to increase money supply, and political reforms to reduce corruption. Though it never became a major party, its ideas influenced later policies and movements focused on economic fairness and government accountability.
