People's Democratic Republic of Yemen

The People's Democratic Republic of Yemen was a socialist state in southern Yemen from 1967 to 1990, formed after the revolution that overthrew the monarchy. It was aligned with the Soviet Union and had a communist government structure. In 1990, it unified with North Yemen (the Yemen Arab Republic) to create the current independent Republic of Yemen. The country has experienced ongoing conflicts due to political divisions, economic challenges, and regional tensions. The People's Democratic Republic of Yemen played a significant role in Cold War geopolitics and regional history until its unification with North Yemen.
