People's Charter

The People's Charter was a set of proposals created in 1838 by British reformers advocating for greater democracy and social justice. It called for universal male suffrage (all men voting), secret ballot voting to prevent intimidation, and other reforms like fair representation and the removal of property qualifications for voters. The charter aimed to make the government more responsive to common people and reduce corruption and inequality. Although it was not immediately adopted, it helped inspire broader democratic reforms and highlighted the need for political change during the Industrial Revolution.
