Pendulum

A pendulum is a weight, called a bob, suspended from a fixed point so it can swing freely back and forth. When displaced from its resting position, gravity pulls it back toward equilibrium, causing it to swing through its path. The motion is predictable and periodic, depending on the length of the pendulum and gravity. Pendulums are used in clocks for accurate timekeeping and in scientific experiments to study oscillations. Their rhythmical swings demonstrate principles of harmonic motion, making them fundamental in understanding energy transfer between potential and kinetic forms during the swing.
