PEG (Percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy)
A Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy (PEG) is a medical procedure that places a feeding tube directly into the stomach through the skin, using an endoscope— a flexible tube with a camera— to guide the placement. This allows patients who have difficulty swallowing or cannot eat enough normally to receive nutrition, fluids, and medications directly into their stomach. The process is minimally invasive, typically performed under sedation, and the tube can be used for long-term feeding, improving the patient’s nutritional status and quality of life.
