Pediatric NAVA

Pediatric NAVA (Neurally Adjusted Ventilatory Assist) is a specialized breathing support for children that uses a small electrode placed on their diaphragm—the main muscle responsible for breathing—to detect the brain's signals to breathe. These signals guide the ventilator to synchronize assistance precisely with the child's natural effort, making breathing easier and more comfortable. Unlike traditional ventilators that rely on pressure or flow sensors, NAVA responds directly to the child's neural cues, resulting in more natural and coordinated breathing, which may help reduce lung injury and improve recovery in pediatric patients.
