Pediatric Eosinophilic Esophagitis
Pediatric Eosinophilic Esophagitis (EoE) is an inflammatory condition affecting the esophagus in children. It occurs when a type of white blood cell called eosinophils accumulate in the esophagus, often due to allergies or certain foods. This can cause symptoms like difficulty swallowing, food getting stuck, and chest pain. Diagnosis typically involves an endoscopy and a biopsy. Treatment usually includes dietary changes, medications to reduce inflammation, and in some cases, steroids. Early management is important to prevent complications and improve quality of life for affected children.
