Pediatric Conjunctivitis
Pediatric conjunctivitis, commonly known as pink eye, is an inflammation of the tissue lining the eyelid and the white part of the eye in children. It can be caused by infections (bacterial or viral), allergies, or irritants. Symptoms include redness, swelling, discharge, and itching. Bacterial conjunctivitis often presents with thick, yellow discharge, while viral conjunctivitis may accompany cold symptoms. Allergic conjunctivitis is often linked to pollen or dust. It's generally not serious, but it’s important to consult a healthcare provider for proper diagnosis and treatment, as some forms can be contagious. Good hygiene can help prevent its spread.
