Pediatric Appendicitis

Pediatric appendicitis is an inflammation of the appendix, a small pouch connected to the large intestine. It commonly affects children and teenagers, often causing symptoms like abdominal pain, especially in the lower right side, nausea, vomiting, and fever. The pain may start around the belly button and then move. If not treated promptly, the appendix can become infected and may rupture, leading to serious complications. Treatment typically involves surgery to remove the appendix (appendectomy). Early diagnosis and intervention are crucial to ensuring a quick recovery and preventing complications.
