Pe. Manuel da Nóbrega

Pe. Manuel da Nóbrega was a Portuguese Jesuit priest and missionary born in 1517, known for his pivotal role in establishing the Jesuit missions in Brazil during the 16th century. He helped organize the Jesuit efforts to evangelize indigenous peoples, promote education, and shape the early social and religious foundations of Brazilian society. As the first priest to serve as the Jesuits’ superior in Brazil, Nóbrega was a key figure in fostering Christianity's growth in the region, advocating for indigenous rights, and laying the groundwork for future missionary and educational endeavors.
