PD catheter

A peritoneal dialysis (PD) catheter is a flexible tube surgically placed into the abdomen to help people with kidney failure. It allows a special fluid, called dialysis solution, to be easily infused and drained, removing waste products and excess fluids from the blood through the lining of the abdomen (peritoneum). This process helps perform a form of kidney support at home or elsewhere without the need for regular needle-based treatments. The catheter stays in place long-term and is used regularly for dialysis exchanges to maintain proper fluid and waste balance in the body.
