PCR testing

PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) testing is a laboratory method used to detect specific genetic material from a virus, such as COVID-19. It works by copying small amounts of viral DNA or RNA so they can be more easily identified. The process involves cycles of heating and cooling to unfold the genetic material, then using special enzymes to replicate it exponentially. If the virus is present in the sample, PCR will find and amplify its genetic material, allowing for accurate detection even at very low levels. This makes PCR a highly sensitive and reliable test for diagnosing infections.
