PCM

PCM, or Pulse Code Modulation, is a method used to convert analog audio signals into digital data for recording and transmission. It works by sampling the amplitude of the sound wave at regular intervals, then assigning each sample a numerical value (code). These digital codes can be easily stored, processed, and transmitted by computers and digital devices. When played back, the digital data is converted back into an analog signal, recreating the original sound. PCM is widely used in digital audio technologies like CDs, DVDs, and digital telephony because it preserves sound quality accurately.
