PCL injury

A PCL (posterior cruciate ligament) injury occurs when this ligament—the structure inside the knee that stabilizes it—becomes stretched or torn, often due to a direct blow to the front of the knee while it is bent, or a fall onto a bent knee. This injury can cause pain, swelling, and a feeling of instability or the knee giving way. Mild tears may heal with rest and therapy, while more severe injuries might require surgical repair. Recovery time varies depending on the severity of the injury.
