Paul Rusesabagina

Paul Rusesabagina is a Rwandan humanitarian known for saving over 1,200 people during the 1994 Rwandan genocide by sheltering them in the Hôtel des Mille Collines in Kigali. His actions gained international recognition and inspired the film "Hotel Rwanda." Later, Rusesabagina became a critic of the Rwandan government and was involved in political activism abroad. In 2020, he was arrested in Rwanda and convicted on charges including terrorism, a move widely debated as politically motivated.
