Paul Passy
Paul Passy was a French linguist and one of the earliest experts on phonetics—the study of speech sounds. He played a key role in developing the International Phonetic Alphabet, a system that represents every human sound with specific symbols, making it easier to study and teach pronunciation across languages. Passy also founded the International Phonetic Association to promote the scientific study of phonetics worldwide. His work laid the foundation for modern language teaching, linguistic research, and advancements in understanding speech production and perception.
