Patriots and Loyalists
During the American Revolution, Patriots were colonists who supported independence from Britain and wanted to establish a new nation. Loyalists, also called Tories, were colonists who remained loyal to the British Crown and opposed the revolution. Patriots believed breaking away was necessary for freedom and self-governance, while Loyalists felt loyalty to Britain was important for stability and economic reasons. These conflicting views led to social divisions, and many individuals faced difficult choices and consequences based on their loyalties. The conflict was both political and personal, shaping the course of American history.
