
Patrick Sarsfield
Patrick Sarsfield was an Irish soldier and leader in the late 17th century, known for fighting against English and Dutch forces during Ireland’s struggle for independence. He played a key role in the Williamite War (1689–1691), supporting the deposed King James II. Sarsfield led Irish troops in battles, notably during the Siege of Limerick. After the war, he became a symbol of Irish resistance and patriotism. His legacy endures as a national hero who fought to defend Ireland's sovereignty and cultural identity during a turbulent period.
