Patrick's Test

Patrick's Test, also known as the FABER test (Flexion, ABduction, External Rotation), is a physical examination used to identify hip joint or sacroiliac joint problems. The patient lies on their back, crossing one leg over the other so the ankle rests above the knee. The examiner gently presses on the bent knee and the opposite hip, applying downward and outward pressure. If this maneuver causes pain in the groin or pelvis, it suggests a possible issue with the hip joint or nearby structures. The test helps clinicians assess the source of hip or pelvic pain and guides further diagnosis.
