Patricio Aylwin

Patricio Aylwin (1918-2016) was a Chilean politician and lawyer who served as the first democratically elected president of Chile after the end of military rule in 1990. A member of the Christian Democratic Party, he played a crucial role in the transition from Augusto Pinochet's dictatorship to a democratic government. Aylwin focused on national reconciliation, human rights, and economic recovery during his presidency.
